Data categorized by month in Pivot Table; tick-multiple-boxes responses in one cell

    Hello,

I have a project at my summer internship workplace that I'm doing, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it.

    I have two specific questions:

    1. For the first spreadsheet, I have a list of days stretching from last year to this year, and numerical values for the number of samples we gave out those days. I have a Pivot Table showing the dates on the X-axis, and the number of samples on the Y-axis. I want to lump the data values for the Y-axis sample numbers into months on the X-axis, but I'm not entirely sure how...

I followed the steps laid out on this website, but I couldn't find a drop-down menu for the "Base."

    2. For the second spreadsheet, I have survey responses. We are asking customers which three out of nine activities they liked most doing on our site, and which three activities they liked the least.

I would like to be able to make a pie chart and a column graph showing the number of times each activity was chosen as "most preferred," and a pie chart and a column graph showing the number of times each activity was chosen as a least preferred activity.

I would at the same time like to input the activity choice data by individual survey. For each survey, it should have its three most preferred activities in alphabetical order in one cell, and its three least preferred activities in alphabetical order in another cell.

Would anybody be able to help me with these questions or point me to resources that I can use to help me?
    Thank you in advance!

I'd be happy to help with these, but could you load small (desensitized) samples from both your spreadsheets, showing what you have already and, if possible, what you would like to see, even if you have to type things in manually.

To attach workbooks, click on the Go Advanced button, then scroll down to Manage Attachments. This will open a new page for you to select your file(s), then click on the Upload button.

    Hi Shirleyxls,

Thanks so much for your help! I apologize, I've been busy in the past few days; sorry for the lateness of this response.

    For question number 2:

You can see that for activities that are preferred or the least preferred, I'd like to type up to three values for each survey. At the end, I want to compile
the number of times each value occurs, and potentially analyze the frequencies for each value according to age group.

For the most part, I've got a handle on question number 1.

    Thanks!

This could use some sprucing up, however see if it generally meets your requirements. Note that C9 is a drop down that will change the age group.

    Hi JeteMc!

    Thanks so much for responding.

Do you think there's any way to display the data in the graph for all age groups?

Yes, add "All" to the data validation list (I2:I7) and modify the formula in D11:E19 to read:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
