    Report Formula Query

    Hello,
can you please help me creating a formula which adds the various projects cost values, charge-ability values and invoiced on a monthly basis.
As well as adding the 2016 together and the 2016 plus anything dated older.
    Many thanks for your help!

    Re: Report Formula Query

It looks like a pivot table can do what you want. I'm not sure how you want to display the data.

One question: if you have Excel 2013, then why is this spreadsheet in XLS format?

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

    Re: Report Formula Query

As dflak says " if you have Excel 2013, then why is this spreadsheet in XLS format?"

I would just add one thing to the Pivot table that dflak created and that would be a Subtotal for the years. Otherwise, my solution is identical to dflak's.

Sheet4 has the pivot table with the subtotal for each year. (right click on the years column and choose Subtotal "Years".

Charting is also possible using the data from the Pivot Table.

I also don't understand why you have a worksheet for each month. List everything in one long list.

    Re: Report Formula Query

I'll add an Amen to Ron W's statement about putting everything on one page. It is far easier to get specific views (such as a month's or year's data) from a big data source than it is to combine multiple data sources for the "big picture."

So if the boss wants 12 separate pages to view each month individually because it's more human readable, but still wants the YTD figures or annual summary at the end; keep the data in one big sheet and parcel it out to the individual sheets either by VBA or pivot tables.

Depending on the report, you might put all the data in an Excel table and give the boss a slicer and let him pick what months to look at.
