Cells with a different width to the coloumn

    Hi

I have a spread sheet where all of the columns are 8.5,
is it possible to create a row (row 22) where two cells in column L
    are 4.2.

That is, Cell L22 shows as two cells at 4.2 wide.

The cells will not be used in any calculations.

    Thanks

    Daniel

    Unfortunately, that can't be done.

Every cell in a column has to be the same width.

It's possible to achieve the same effect by merging 2 columns together.

For example, make columns L and M each 4.2 wide.

Then, merge each row in L and M except row 22.

However, with that said I also have to warn you that merging cells almost always causes unforeseen problems later on!

If this is for presentation purposes only, you could copy data to Word and use Word tables that allow you to split cells within a column. This would be nice in Excel but I haven't a clue how the cell addresses would work if such a thing was implemented.

    Hi guys

both clever solutions but in the end I went with uneven rows given the potential problems.

    Thanks
