Drop down box unremovable, any solutions?

Hi!

I have an extensive file working properly but one data validation drop box CAN NOT be removed. The icon is always visible, not just when the cell is selected as I would want it to be. I can't select the icon in developer mode, right click does nothing and all data validation is removed from the cell. It just shows an empty list when I left click on it. If I make a new data validation in the cell it works properly as long as I select the cell and don't click on the drop down icon, in which case it just shows that empty list. I tried clearing the cell, deleting the cell and that godforbidden icon is not disappearing! I am close to losing my mind with this, please help me!

The original drop down list was made by data validation, not from control toolbox. I have no clue what could've happened here.
