Generating an automatic response in adjacent cell

Hey all,

I am creating a rota and I want to be able to generate an automatic response in an adjacent cell depending on value I type. For example, in D4 I put 5-C and I want E4 to automatically populate the value 7.5, Is this possible? Sorry if this is easy, I just can't figure out how to do it.

In the attached is one way of accomplishing this (there are several methods).

In the green cells you create a list of the options that could be entered into D4 and the associated values you want returned in E4.

Using a VLOOKUP formula you can populate E4 when D4 is changed.

The list (green cells) can be hidden away on another sheet for the sake of neatness.
