Want to set up automatic saving files with data pull from other programs

Hi, I wasn't sure which category to post this in so hopefully this is ok.

Basically, I'm in the process of setting up a spreadsheet that eventually the hope is to pull data from 2 other programs. I have a couple of questions pertaining to this and hopefully some can be answered.

    1. If I indeed set it up correctly, can I get it to pull the data real-time so if something changes while the file is open it will update? Or will I have to manually trigger an update if the file is open.

    2. I'd like to have a system of automatic saving by date. In an ideal setting, every day at 05:30 AM, the file would save as that date's name into a folder as a separate file. That way there would be a backlog of every date.

    3. If 2 is possible, would I have to have the file open to run it or would it do it even if the file is closed? (Forgive me if that's a stupid question, I don't have a ton of Excel knowledge.)

    4. If all of that is possible, is there a way to set it up so multiple people can edit it at once?

Ideally, I'd want the file to pull from the 2 programs in real-time so if something changes it would be reflected in the file. Multiple people could also edit it at the same time, and then the file would save as a new file with the date name in a specific folder that I choose.

It might be asking for a lot, but again, I don't have a lot of knowledge so I want to know if this is possible.

    Thank you for your time

    1) This is more trouble than it is worth
    2) Yes that is fairly easy with VBA
    3) if you wanted to use VBA the file has to be open, but you could write a script to open it then fire off VBA but that is likely more complicated than you would like giving that you are asking if this is possible and not HOW is this possible.
    4) Google "Sharing excel file"
