    Problem define name table

    Dear all,

I need help because I have one form where you select a reference and then in the near cell you have to select the color.

For one reference, there are diferent colors. We have references starting by A, U, P and R.

But for R references there is a problem. Example:

For the reference R27SD066, there are two colors. If I mark the two colors and try to Define name as a R27SD066, a message appears: The name that you entered is not valid.

I attach the document with the message. error excel.jpg

What we can do? Any idea?

    Regards,

    Carlos O.

    Re: Problem define name table

    Hi,

Excel does not allow names which begin with R or C followed by a number, perhaps due to the similarity to R1C1 references. If you add an underscore to the start of the name, it will be a legal name.

    The Name Manager is confused.

It thinks you're trying to use R1C1 referencing.

    Maybe add an underscore: _R27SD066

    Re: Problem define name table

We should not put an underscore because we want that, when you have to write the reference in the form, you write R27SD066, not _R27SD066.

Any other idea or option please?

    Thanks !!!

The name you want is invalid so you will have to use a different one. It doesn't have to use an underscore but it cannot be what you say you want.

    Re: Problem define name table

Excel will not allow R27SD066 as a defined name.

So, your options are either come up with a different name or use the underscore method.
