All Filters Break Down at Row 579

    Good morning, all!

I'm a fairly new Excel user. Not sure what is special about row 579 in my current spreadsheet, but it's at that point that all filters seem to break down.

I've tried various text and color filters and they all work perfectly.. down to row 579. The cells below that point always display rather than filtering out according to the given filter criteria.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum

    Is row 580 completely blank?

No it isn't completely blank. Cells A through G in that row are blank, however.

Is column H blank and which column(s) are you selecting when you use the Autofilter.

It may be better if you upload the workbook so that we can see the request in context.

Here is a screenshot. I can send the document if this still doesn't help. I filtered column J for "Buildings & Property," but the problem persists no matter what column you filter.

Sometimes this type of problem occur if you had blank row during you place the filter and after that you remove that blank row or put data on that row. On that case you need to remove the filter and after that place the filter again. But it's hard to say without seeing the file.

    Hi,

I don't see the same problem.
Or to be correct I see it when opening the workbook you sent but when I remove the filter and then filter the column again the filter works as you expect.

Either you only selected rows down to 579 or as sanram has helpfully suggested you previously had a blank row, caused perhaps by accidentally inserting one.

You have exactly the issue as I expected. Just remove the filter and place again. That's it.

Re: All Filters Break Down at Row 579

Thank you both so much! And sanram, thank you for attaching the corrected file.

Just a quick update on my end: I tried removing and re-applying the filter. I even removed the filter, saved, closed, re-opened, and re-applied. Those steps didn't work for me, however. The filter still stopped at row 579.

That said, the file sanram sent me works perfectly, so while I can't seem to fix the problem on my own, at least I now have a working spreadsheet

    Appreciate your time, my friends!

You are welcome. But reapplying the filter should work for you also. Because I didn't do anything else with your file.
