    Drop-down list no repeats

    Hi,

I have a drop-down list (Data Validation > Allow List) for a number of cells, 12 I think, across a singe row. The values for the drop-down menu are in another, hidden, worksheet.

I would like it so the user can select any option in the drop-down list once and only once. For example, if they select Project1 in column A they then shouldn't be able to select Project1 in column B. Any ideas how I can achieve this? Ideally I would prefer not to use macros, but if needs must...

    Many thanks

We need to know EXACTLY where this data is located.

Where are the drop down lists?

Where is the source for the drop down lists?

What type of data is it? Text? Numbers? Could be both? Something else?

    Hi jlt,

This problem sounds like you are looking for a Cascading Dropdown. See the video at:

Here's an example document showing the list use and where the source for the drop-downs are saved.

    Many thanks

    Re: Drop-down list no repeats

Thanks Marvin, I've watched the video, but not exactly what I'm looking for...

Suppose I have the drop-down list {"Apples","Oranges","Bananas"}, I want the first column to be able to select either option from the drop-down. Suppose "Bananas" is selected, then for the next column I would like the user to only select between "Apples" and "Oranges"
