Copying Conditional Formatting to the adjacent Cell

    Hi,

I've had a look around for a solution to this, but none of the other answers seem to quite do what I'd like to.

I currently have a drop down box in A1 that has CF on it. The drop down options are Yes and No. If it's a Yes the cell goes green. If it's a not it goes red.

A2 will be used for Notes to be typed explaining why A1 is a Yes or a No but what I'd like is for A2 to turn the same colour as A1 when a drop down is selected, yet still have space for the User to type notes in A2.

I can't see an option for this in the CF options so the only other way I can think of doing it would be to add another column and put a formula in there which relates to the formatting of A2. I'm just not sure of formulas that relate to formatting!

    Any help much appreciated! :-)

Select cell A2 then click on Conditional Formatting | New Rule | Use a Formula... , then put this formula in the dialogue box:

    =A1="Yes"

Click the Format button | Fill tab and choose green, then OK your way out.

Repeat this, but use the formula:

    =A1="No"

and set that colour to red.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete
