Unable to produce league table/chart based on data

    Hello,

I have some data as shown in the example data below (all of the figures and names are fictional):

    data 12.JPG

Basically, I need to produce a league table which ranks the employees based on the value of their stops. I need the league table to show their names as per columns W, Y and AA and then display their points as per columns X, Z and AB and also add up the points if they feature more than once.

Is there a way of doing this at all?

    Many thanks,

    Chris

Yes there is a way of doing this but it would be much easier if you posted that dummy worksheet - it's tough to edit a pic :-)

To add an attachment go to ADVANCED, Manage attachments, browse for your file, upload, close window, & save.

In the dummy file, mock up where & what answers you are expecting and highlight them in (say) green for DATA and Blue for your results, this way the Excel Guru's whose brains are almost at bursting point trying to interpret jpegs will probably supply an answer before you have had your sausage butties for lunch :-)

Re: Unable to produce league table/chart based on data

    Hello,

I have attached a copy of my test data. I have the data on sheet 1, with the way I would like my league table on sheet 2.

I want my league table to show the employees and the number of points they have gained, which also adds up points when the same name is added to the data again.

I also want the league table to show the week number, as I will be looking at the data on a week by week basis.

    Hopefully someone can help.

    Many thanks,

    Chris

more than one way to skin a cat but this is what I'd suggest; using a pivot table. From here you can produce dynamic charts and quick filters to assist you analyzing the data.

I've chucked a couple of slicers in there to allow you to breakdown by employee or Week number.

I've added some more data to the table so if you click to refresh on the second sheet (ensure macros are enabled) then you'll see the table update.

Any questions just let me know.

    Hope this helps.

Good answer from Dave, a pivot table works well for this kind of thing.

In the meantime I knocked this worksheet up earlier (because I was bored, and before you posted your attachment and 2nd criteria of using week numbers:-)

Using IFERROR INDEX MATCH formulas you can also determine the points awarded per employee and rank them in order top to bottom.
Other formulas used are RANK+COUNTIF and OFFSET MATCH.

INDEX MATCH can also be used with Week Numbers too.
