Meal plan to return Fat, Protein, etc.

    Hi,

So Excel's built in template is a joke for this.
It doesn't work, at all on it's own never mind when I actually want to add my own data in.

So I made a basic meal plan with some dummy data and there a few things i cant figure out.
My upload will make this explanation easier.

But basically, each week i want to be able to plan my meals. And next to them, i want to see total protein, carbs and fat.
That data will be pulled from the Ingredients sheet.

It's easily done with SUM but that only works if its the same meals everyweek on the same day
I'd like to be able to add dishes along with their ingredients then be able to see their proteint/carb/fat value when i select them that day via the drop down box.
I've also added a shopping list sheet, which ideally would total the amount of each ingredient but i can't even begin to wrap my head around that.

sorry if this is really vague.

But could someone take a look please.

This should give you a pointer. In F4 of the dishes table:

    =SUMIF(Ingredients!$B$4:$B$78,[@DISH],Ingredients!$F$4:$F$79)

Please explain what the image means - I cannot read it. The formula I gave works on your file here.

    I tried the following formula.

Please Login or Register to view this content.
I entered it into F4, then dragged down and across.

Seems to be the only way when you're working with tables.

(I found this link helpful in working out how to get absolute addresses).

I hope this helps, please let me know!
