how to reduce default font size on excel

Hi

I work on my laptop which doesnt have a very large screen.

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to reduce the default font size of excel on the various windows, and in general reduce the amount of blank space on the excel UI.

Is there a guide to do this?

In Excel, go to File, Options, then General. On the General page you can change the font style and font size to a new default setting.

Thanks.. that works. I see that only applies to new files created, but I guess thats what I will have to live with.

Is there a way to eliminate the top and bottom blank space on a excel sheet?

I use keyboard shortcuts most of the time, and dont use the toolbar much. I think there is a way to autohide the menubar in http://imgur.com/a/aEgtj, but it seems to work only in full window mode.

Sorry to say, I do not know of a way to hide the menu bar.
