    Smile Applying bottom borders

    Good Afternoon,

I need help with applying a thick bottom border under items that end in the code 'BX-3'.

Instead of doing this manually (There are over 3000) products, I am wondering if there is a quick solution to this to make the different product ranges stand out/segregate.

Please see attached image(If uploaded- not sure if its uploaded)

Your help will be hugely appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Mitch.Birlea,

The attached uses conditional formatting to achieve what you're after.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Applying bottom borders

    1. Select the cells you want to format.
    2. Click Home > Conditional Formatting > New Rule.
    3. Click Use a formula to determine which cells to format.
    4. Under Format values where this formula is true, enter your formula.
    5. Click Format.
    6. Use the controls on the Number, Font, Border, and Fill tabs to change your data, or the cells around your data.

For point four you need to write the formula from the perspective of the active cell. The active cell is shown in the 'name box' at the top left of the screen.
For example if you select from cell A2 to the end of the range your formula will be =RIGHT($A2,3)="BX3"

    Hi Snook,

Thank you so much for your help.

The concept is there but its underlining above 'BX3' therefore undlining 'BX2'.

    Could you recommend anything?

    So close to solving it

    Cheers

    Re: Applying bottom borders

    Hi Mitch.Birlea,

I assume it's because the formula isn't written from the perspective of the active cell. It's difficult to diagnose without seeing an example. Is it possible to upload an extract of the data you're working with and I'll take a look?

    Regards,

    Snook

    Re: Applying bottom borders

    Hi Mitch.Birlea,

Click on cell A2 and select Home -> Conditional Formatting -> Manage Rules
Change the 'applies to' range to $A$2 rather than $A$1 and click apply.
Then click 'edit rule' and change the formula to =RIGHT($A2 rather than $A3.

    That should resolve it.
