I am guessing this is an Excel problem, but it may actually be a Word problem. I am using Office 2016 on a Windows 10 machine.
I have Word 2016 configured to be the default app for Word files. This works just as expected, except in one place. I have an Excel file with hyperlinks to Word files, and when I click on the links, the files open in Word 2010 (Office allows 2010 to remain installed if you install 2016). I guess I could resolve this by uninstalling 2010 but I like to keep it around to support questions here.
What setting indicates what version of Office is used to open hyperlinks in Excel?
