    Month ID

    Hallo. I have daily dates for two years, how do I create month IDs for order of da monthys? Thanks!!

    Guessing at this. In a helper column =Month(CellReference)

    If you want the month ID to be readable text, here is an option:

    =LOOKUP(MONTH(A1),{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12},{"Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec"})

    =TEXT(A1,"mmm")


    However, if all the OP wants is to show the month in words, then just reference the cell =A1 and format as month

    Well, yes . . . a bit of a mouthful. Intent was just to throw out an alternate method to demo there is more than one way to skin a cat (sorry (not really) PETA).

    But if we really want to shorten it, why not just use =A1, then format the cell date as "M" for a number or Custom Format using [$-409]mmm;@ for text.
