Question 1) Use Table to create a Pivot Table 2) Why it's meaningful information 3) Bar graph

Hello! I am doing an "assignment" for a potential job opening. I have figured out most the problems, but a little confused on this one:

"Use Table 7 to create a Pivot Table that shows the most meaningful information. Please write a brief description outlining why you chose to highlight the specific information."

The instructions are within the attached file. I'm assuming that 'month' and 'category code' aren't meaningful, but would love another opinion. I know how to create a pivot table but again not really sure which information is relevant.

The images below are a snapshot of the worksheet.

Once again thanks for the help!

ghaz, I am going to leave this thread open (for now) but we frown on people asking us to do their homework assignments for them. Although this is not school, the principle is the same--you are asking us to do work for you that you will present as your own.

Even if we get past the ethics issue, I have to wonder how would succeed in a job that you don't know how to do. The question you are trying to answer is not an Excel question at all. It's a question to see how well you can analyze a data set to extract useful information from it. We could probably give you our opinion about this specific case but that type of analysis is a skill that is learned through lots of experience, not a single thread in a forum.

Please give some thought as to how to think through this and learn something. I think some high-level discussion and hints might be OK but if I see someone hand you an answer on a silver platter this thread will be closed.
Jeff

I have to agree (as do other seniors) that we should not be doing your work for you. By all means, we can help guide you, but YOU need to do the work, and YOU need to show you understand what is being done.

Failing that, I will have to close this thread. So, lets see what you can do so far?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

It would seem from post #3 that you are able to manage the mechanics of creating a pivot table. We really can't advise you on the interpretation of the data: that, more than anything else, has to come from you and you alone, as it seems to be the key point of the task. As for the creation of the bar graph: the help available in Excel 2016 itself should be enough to guide you.

I feel very strongly that no help should be offered here - sorry.
