Help me recover a badly messed up CSV

    Hi

So I have received a CSV where all the data is in the first column without any visible delimiter. However, when I copy the content of a cell into a text editor, I see that the different fields are separated with TABS but I am unable to split them in an excel spreadsheet.

The data would need to be separated into different columns.

Please find sample files attached for the messed-up csv & the sample text file (TAB delimited)

Kindly advise how I can salvage this data. There are over 17K total records in file

    Many many thanks in advance

The text to columns feature works fine with the delimiter set as tab.

I clicked on the "messed up spreadsheet" file, opened it in Excel. Selected the data, Clicked on "Text to Columns" (Data group in 2007), selected delimited with Tab as the delimiter and it appeared to parse the data as expected.

Have you tried that sort of procedure?

Hello AliGW and MrShorty - surprisingly it worked this time. Either I had overlooked the delimited by Tab in the Txt-to-Column or for some reason it wasn't working before.

Thank you both so very much for your prompt support.
