Excel crashes al the time and the IT-department don’t know how to fix this.

I’m having a big problem with excel. Around one a day the program crashes, all the menus disappear (look at the right side of the pic)(link). I can still click my way to “save” and therefore save the file, but I need to restart my work every time. I don’t work with particularly large files but I tend to have around 10 files open at the same time. It’s not like my hardware I slow or anything, i use a i5-5200 CPU with 8gb ram and a SSD.
The problem disappear after I restart excel or wait a long time. I have tried to reinstall windows 10, tried both excel 2010 and 2013. The files I’m using are located in a shared server and I’m connected with wired LAN.

Does anyone have any experience of this problem?

I suspect it's due to memory limit on Excel application.

Excel is single instance application and has limit of 2GB (or if you have build 15.0.4833.1000 or later, 4GB for 64-bit windows) in virtual address space (RAM).
This limit is shared by all workbooks and any add-ins that's running.

When you experience your described issue, see if you can have Task Manager up and check memory usage.
If it sits at 4Gb or above for long time, then it is likely that above is the cause.

You can alleviate this issue by using 64-bit version of Excel (32-bit is the default install). However, do note that there are some disadvantages and limitation for 64bit version.
    See link for details.

I have used the 64 bit Excel for quite a while now and it has not caused me any problems. Make sure to read the "fine print" when downloading addins. This isn't the problem that it used to be.

I agree. Most recent add-ins are made to accommodate both. But from my personal experience, it's always good to check.

At my previous job, the company had Access DB serving as front-end for MySQL DB and everything was set up in 32-bit. When new computers arrived with 64-bit Office pre-installed, I had to re-install 32-bit, in order for Access Front-end to co-exist with other Office applications.

One has to check 32 bit vs 64 bit there is not doubt about it. Most addins are clearly labelled but there are still some that don't indicate anything.

I've been through your pain the the DB....Oracle DB with a SQL front end. One had to be real careful not to issue a command resulting in a file that was too big to handle...learned the hard way.
