I'm trying to protect *parts* of a spreadsheet that contain formulas I use that work with data provided by other users. I've gotten the columns that my formulas are in protected, but I just discovered that if somebody selects an entire row they can apparently still delete the contents of my protected cells.
Is there any way to "lock" regions that will prevent this?

Have you protected the sheet?
ALL cells are locked by default but this only comes into play if you protect the sheet. It's like an electric fence around a field. The wire is in place all the time but ineffective until you switch the current on.
For cells you want to be able to change you should unlock them before you apply sheet protection.

Yes, that's what I did. Locked down the sheet, with password, but with some columns "exposed" so that the users can add the data. What's confusing me is the fact that even when it's protected, I can just select an entire row and delete it, including the protected cells.
