    Producing Search Engine From List

    Hi,

i have a list of subcontractors that with name and contact deatails in Columns A:E. From Columns F:P I have tick boxes (a simple data validation list with a tick and a blank) that identify there skills (All Trades, Demolition and ext. works, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing / Domestic, Flooring, Partitioning, Decorating, Joinery, Suspended Ceilings, External Works) columns Q:Y are tick boxes that identify their location (Country/Nationwide,North West, North East, West Midlands, East Midlands, South West, South East, Wales, Scotland).

Currently to search for a contractor for a job i simply filter the required skills column with the required trades column, however i was wondering if there was a way, using formulas, to create a search engine that produced a list of results based on the required skill, location or both? i would like to use the existing list to pull the information from.

    Kind Regards

    David

This certainly sounds possible, but without a sample workbook it is difficult to address the issue.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
