Find what version of Office is installed 32 bit or 64 bit

    Hello friends,

I'm trying to find a way how to get the info about what version of Office in installed on machine, is it a 32 bit version or 64 bit.

But the trick is, that I need to find a way NOT with VBA code or going to Help section. I need to find out this info while installing my application on the users PC.

So is there a windows environment variable, registry entry, or or some other way how to find this info OUTSIDE the office himself?

    Thanks, Davor
    You can help me too.

you want to check what version of office you are running without opening application at all?

    try one of many options....
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2...a-the-registry

i looked at the HKLM and it seems to be right for my current setup which is
    64bit OS + 32 bit office

if you can open an applications but dont want to use help menu then task manager does work too
with the *32 after the application

Yes, I want to check in my setup application.

This sounds interesting, but I think that this is not the universal approach for every excel version.

Suggest you google it. I provided a pointer to help with your research.
Perhaps search TechNet for the same details relating to other versions of Office.
And post a summary of your findings here for others who may need it.
    Thanks

    Thanks kev_

I will search the google. Surely someone had this question before.

When I find the answer I will post it here also.

@AlKey that is useful within Excel but OP asked:
So is there a windows environment variable, registry entry, or or some other way how to find this info OUTSIDE the office himself?
