Lost all module changes in VB Editor

A couple of days ago, I learnt here how to change 'Module1', 'Module2' etc to meanigful names. I the painstakingly spent an hour or two renaming and also re-organising (moving code from one module to another, grouping like macros, etc). I've used Excel 365 since then but only tonight have I used Alt+F11 and looked at the modules under Personal.xlsb. I'm dismayed to find none of my changes now shown. In File Explorer there is no 'previous version' available, nor in the Recycle bin. Is there anything else I can try please?

And can anyone suggest what might have happened to cause this? Probably user error of some kind, but no warning?

Re: Lost all module changes in VB Editor

When something like occurs here it's because I did not save everything before moving forward with any other edits.

It probably should not occur like this, but if i wait until closing the workbook (when it asks "Do you want to save changes?") clicking YES doesn't do anything to save changes made in the VBE.
I have learned to save everything from within the VBE before leaving it.

I don't believe Excel is supposed to act that way but that's how it is here.

Thanks Logit, I reckon that's what happened here too. Or it may have been an accident and I hit NO instead of YES.

Repeating the renaming/reorganising task was much quicker this time. I went back a couple of times after finishing it and re-opened Excel and happily the changes had stuck.
