Hi I have the attached the document I am having issues with. Column E is the output. I need E to look at Column D and then match it to Column A. I tried vlookup but did not work. Hope you can help.

For VLOOKUP to work, you have to have the lookup value on the left of the table, so Code# has to be in column A of your table and Doc# has to be in column B.
Then use this formula

For what you want to accomplish you need to use INDEX/MATCH
Enter in E2 and copy down
