I was working for a few hours on an Excel file. Settings indicate that the file gets auto saved every 3 minutes.
Where would I find the auto saved files?
Thank you in advance.

Do you know the name of the file? If you do, you can search for it by name

We searched ... the file that comes up is maybe 10% of the work that was done. Seems that if Excel auto saves every 3 minutes that there would be a whole bunch of temporary files that progressively have more data in them.
This is what is confusing to us ... what does auto save really do??
Auto save saves the file as it is at the time of the save to the default location of the file. Unless it is hard coded to auto save to a different location. Is this file on a network?
No, the file was being created on a laptop with no network. So it sounds like the file that we have located and opened is the only file that has been created. Darn ... was really hoping there was a series of temp files stored elsewhere.
Kind of odd though that it didn't save with the added data at the 3 minute mark(s).
