Lets say I have n columns, they contain similar data. How can I sort and align the data and insert empty cells when a column does not contain data from the an adjacent column? For example:

Is column C meant to be your expected result?? If so, please explain the logic? If not, what IS your expected result (and explain the logic).

Hi,
The data sets are distinct, think of this as a diff between n sets of column data. Each set (column) contains some similar data which may be shared between two or more columns however some columns may contain unique data.
So if you were going to manually perform this, you would sort each column, then when a discrepancy (a unique cell) is found, the column without that item will have a blank cell inserted and the remaining sorted data shifted down.
So... to repeat myself. What is your expected result? i suspect that this might need VBA.
Well, like I said its a diff and the desired output is explained, the actual columns themselves (in this case, columns A through C) would each get sorted and spaced out.
I am not particularly found of VB being a c# dev, I may just produce the output table from powershell if Excel does not have this functionality native to it.
Thanks!
