How can I set up my excel sheet so that the columns width exactly fits the layout space (have the last column snap to the right margin of the page)?
When I try and drag it over it pops up on the next page or falls short of the right margin....

Highlight the number of columns you want, go to the View ribbon and select Zoom to Selection.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
