Glue points no longer working on stacked and grouped shapes

I am building a logic tree using shapes (text boxes) connected by arrows at glue points in Excel. Several of these boxes have multiple arrows coming in and out. The standard box only has 4 glue points and I found that it got confusing with multiple lines going to the same points.

To get around this, I used 6 smaller boxes arranged 6x2, grouped them together, then placed the the text box over them and grouped everything together. This gives me 5 long side glue points and 3 on the short side. This was working well until I emailed the excel sheet and opened it on another computer. Now, the only glue points that are showing up are the 4 from the top shape. Any ideas on what happened? Also, any other ideas for workarounds? Thanks.

Are Excel versions identical on both computers?

No after doing some more research I think it is just a change between the versions. The version the workbook was created in was 2010, the new one is 2016. Even if I "rebuild" my text boxes in the 2016 version, it still won't snap the the glue points behind. I've gotten around this by just putting the small boxes in front with no line and no fill. The only down side to this is when I need to change the color for a new box, I have to select and change each of the small boxes back to no line and no fill.

You could create a simple macro attached to a short-cut to achieve those repetitive tasks
