Dear Forum.
I'm figuring there must be some guitar players out there and I'm afraid my guitar skills are as poor as my excel skills and I am trying to come up with a tool to get me familiar with transposing.
Please see attached Workbook. In cells A13:Q19 is a tool for finding a note/chord with user entries in cells B15 and B16 and the result (formula) in cell B18.
However, what I'm trying to accomplish is contained in AB24:AI46.
I'm visualising that there would be a formula in cells shaded blue in this area that could transpose the 'root chord' (not sure if that's technically the correct but i think so and if it's not and you know why it's not you're probably the right person the help me ) from the cells shaded in oranges within S24:Z46.
It would seem the user (me) could enter a root chord in AB24 and with the right formulas would transpose the orange to the blue shaded cells.
I have formulas in columns AC, AE, AG, AI to accommodate 'minors', 'sus4/7', etc. and also for the lyrics.
Hopefully it makes enough sense. I think to a musician that is fluent with transposing will be able see what's going on straight away and would be difficult to explain otherwise.
Friday night and I'm playing around with Beer, Excel and Guitar. No wonder my Career Adviser had a hard time trying to direct me..
Thank you for any help if anyone is able to provide.
