Max value of right two values

I have a list of parts
M01
M02
M03
P04
etc

i want to formulatically? find the highest value of any of these. I've tried =max(right(1:1,2))
but that doesnt work.

I'm sure this is an easy one but im stuck! Please help! thanks!
