    Date populated from another Workbook

    Hi All,
Wonder if anyone can help. I have two separate workbooks, and need date information in one to populate into the other.
I have linked the cells (so when I update the dates in workbook 1, they automatically update in workbook 2).

However, before I put a date into workbook 1, the cells are blank. These cells show as "00/01/1900" in workbook 2. I want to hide this so that it doesn't look strange when people open the workbook. I have tried conditional forming but this wont work as the cells are linked to the other workbook.
This is the 'error' that I get on the cells...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks all.

Just check for a blank value in the formula - something like:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Re: Date populated from another Workbook

    Hi Olly,
    *Waves back...what are the odds!!*
I actually had a thought and fixed it after I'd posted (but thanks!)
What was confusing me was, I was trying to conditionally format based on what the cell was displaying, not what it actually contained (which was effectively zero), so if I conditionally format the text to be white if there is nothing in the cell then the displayed text disappears until i enter the date in the other workbook.
I'll try your formula on the next one and see which is easier for me in the long run so thanks very much!

Cool. Just another quick tip - if you are trying to suppress display using conditional formatting, then it works better to (conditionally) set the number format to ";;;", rather than setting the font colour to white - then you don't have to worry about cell shading.
