    Cannot copy worksheet

So I am trying to copy a worksheet to another workbook - never had a problem before. Tried it today and then got the message in the attached file (sorry, couldn't get the picture upload to work out properly). NO idea what is going on. Anyone any ideas?

    TIA

Only way I have ever managed to get around this is to select the whole sheet that you want to copy, copy the cells and past them into a new workbook/sheet.

If anyone knows the fix for the above error then please post but like I said, the only method I've found is what I said above.

    thanks

I've never had a problem before with it. That's what is really getting me - that and a multitude of other problems that have come up lately! If I find anything I'll let you know.

    @ malcmail

    In the sheet first
Ctrl+End and delete all the unnecessary cells by using "Delete Cells " in Home Tab and save the worksheet

I think it's something to do with the file type (ie xls, xlsm) as they are both different sizes with different amounts of rows/columns.
    AND/OR
The data sheet that you have copied contains formatting to the very last row of the worksheet and when trying to past into the other file, there is too many rows to paste onto the new sheet.

Try pressing Ctrl & end to see where the last line of info is on your sheet. (if there are lots of blanks between your last text/number cell then try and delete the blank rows/columns and try copy/paste again)

That's all I can think of.

Trie changing format and deleting rows and columns and no dice. Looks like C&P it is then.

    Re: Cannot copy worksheet

While using C&P I found soemthing interesting. The sheet to copy has references to the label "country" which is cell A1 on the Home page. This is in all the workbooks I want to copyit to. The cell reference is not on the sheet to copy but is referenced to it. Seems to cause an issue when I try to paste. Wonder if that is causing the headaches with trying to move the sheet.

    Re: Cannot copy worksheet

The problem is that there is a tonne of code behind it all well (UDFS mainly) which would make it difficult - but thanks for the offer.

    Re: Cannot copy worksheet

Seemed to have got it working. Made sure both were xls files. Then closed both files. Restarted Excel and using the recent documents in Excel itself opend up both books. Worked first time after that. Hope it helps.
