Even Microsoft themselves cannot explain this Excel problem!!

We record production data in Excel spreadsheets. They are not huge spreadsheets, do not contain any macros and are not linked to any other spreadsheets and there are no links between Tabs.

The problem we have is intermittent. Some days we can happily load the data (manually) into the spreadsheet cells and everything is fine......however......

other days, we enter a piece of data into. let's say, Cell P988 and then press the right arrow to move into Cell Q988 but the cell will not accept ANY entry UNTIL I click on one of the other 2 Tabs of the spreadsheet and then click back to the original tab and find that Q988 will miraculously accept data. This goes on ad infinitum until I give up and close the spreadsheet down. Probably when I open it tomorrow it will be fine...who knows! Exciting huh?

I've spoken with Microsoft Helpdesk several times and NO-ONE has ANY clue why this happens!

Bl@@dy machines!! The innate hostility of inanimate objects... and remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean that they AREN'T out to get you....

Never seen that before. But... if TIO-TIO works... (turn it off - turn it on)

    Hi BoK-
    1) Are any macro-enabled workbooks typically open when this happens? I'm wondering if some Application.OnKey event is getting triggered.
    2) Aways the same computer, or various machines?
    3) Does the Tab key generate the same problem? (Difficult to check)

    Hi leelnich
No we rarely use Macros and no I haven't tried using any of the other PCs yet. If only I knew what an Application.OnKey event is! LOL!
