Vertical and horizontal text string alignment (adjustment) in a cell

    Hello,
I am looking for if the width of text string can be adjusted to the end
of cell, and still keep the text size/character width visual look not
too much different with the other full size text string in other cells.
I do not want two lines of text because I cannot afford to have two lines
    of text or wider cell.

It is also nice to have a fine tone vertical text position adjustment
other than the standard top, center and bottom align, basically the text string will
go off the top or bottom edge of the cell.

It sounds like it is almost impossible to do because these features are for desktop publishing
which text strings are not in cell controlled.

    I have tried ...
    1. "Shrink to fit" in text forming, but the font size is reduced, end of text is not adjusted all the way to the end of the cell
to minimize the text distortion. I want to have more fine tone to adjust to fit or expand the text string. This kind of
feature used in desktop publishing. The shrink text may reduce the font size and/or condense text width.
    2. Enter font size in 1-3 decimal places, text width does not change.
    3. Use condensed font not always visual fit other full size text either it is too shorts or look much different with other text.
In some case, I have three characters too long but I cannot make the cell wider.

It is also nice to have fine tone vertical text position within a cell other than the standard top, center and bottom align,
This not a must have. Currently I use two rows of cell to control text position; for the numerical data input on the right,
I merge two cells into one cell.

In short, I am looking for text format features liked the desktop publishing. I am not sure it is possible
using VBA or plug-in if any.

My guess it may need two scroll bars, one is to adjust text string horizontally within a cell, other one
    would be adjusted vertically.

    Thanks

Your description is a little hard to follow, especially the repeated reference to "fine tone". But I think you are asking this:

Excel has three ways to align a value horizontally for display in a cell: left, center, and right. It offers the same three for vertical alignment. You want more control than that over where a string appears within a cell.

It is not possible to do custom alignment within a cell, not even with VBA. If you need that kind of a feature then Excel is probably not the right tool. What is the overall application you are developing?

Re: Vertical and horizontal text string alignment (adjustment) in a cell

    Hi 6StringJazzer,
I like Excel, but I miss the text string adjustment from the desktop publishing app. I think it is difficult to do. There is no big deal not to have.
I try to make a custom form, there are lots of stuff, I try to squeeze more space while keep readable font.

    Hi MarvinP,
I am not looking for floating Word Art which is scalable. I get to have text on a cell. I wish the text in the cell is scalable by select and drag.

Thanks for taking a look. I know it could be very difficult but never know.
