    Filtering/Table and Calculations

    Hello,

I have a Sheet of Students and exam grades.
They are in different year groups. I have a row per student per subject and a column indicating with year group they are in. Each student has 3-4 subjects.

I would like to be able to have a tab within the sheet that can tally percentages of the results.
    I.e Number of A's. Percentage of A's.

Ideally i would like to be able to filter this down, so the head of of group can open it and select her students and the percentages change to match it.

    Thank you for your help!

Consider creating a small example of your data along with the desired result. You can then upload a sample workbook directly to your post.

I'm not entirely certain what you are looking for in end result. But this sort of analysis can be done using PivotTable.

See attached sample and see if it's close to what you are looking for.

    Re: Filtering/Table and Calculations

The end result i would like is to populate the rows in the Percentages tab.

The example is giving me percentages for that grade alone. I would like The percentage of students who got A* - C, so that covers four grade groups.

    Re: Filtering/Table and Calculations

You didn't include the actual results but I think that we have enough to work with.

    A couple of questions:
    1) What do the stars after "A" represent?
    2) What does A*/A, A*-B, etc. mean?
    3) I do not see any final grades in the data yet you included a column for it in your percentages worksheet. Are we only looking at "MOCK EXAM SCORE" here?

If you are looking for a count of A's, you can use a formula like this:
    =COUNTIF(Data!I:I,"A")

If you are looking for a count of grades A, B, and C, you can use a formula such as:
    =SUM(COUNTIF(Data!I:I,{"A","B","C"}))

    Re: Filtering/Table and Calculations

I don't have the actual results yet, as they have not been released.
This is being set up to be used on the results day.

    As I said in my post, it is Exam grades, A* is a grade. {E,D,C,B,A,A*}

If it can work on Mock Grade i can transfer it in our final version for when we have final grades.

I do not want a count.
I would like to know, what percentage of students got an A and A* from a selected group.

We have a large table that is already pivoted to produce the graphs for each departments, however we need one for the summary of the results,
