    Can I duplicate text from one cell to another. NOT numbers- TEXT- names

    Hi, totally new.

    I have a spreadsheet generated by software program where

    IN COLUMN A the name is in one cell (150) cell below is blank(151).
    IN column B is the text is in 150 is blank and the text I am interested in is- at B151

    I want column A 150 to align with B151. it's the way the program generated the data

    Can formulas move letters?

    The numbers are duplicated so I can get rid of one set but text isn't aligned. I can copy and paste( drag the name with ctrl) all the names in A 150 to 151 and then delete all even rows but it is labor intensive and seems like there must be an easier way.

    Thank you.

    Step1:Select column A from 150th row to the end of data set (Only Column A)
    Step2: Type Ctrl+G -->Special-->Blank-->OK
    Step3:Now, you have all the blank cell selected.Type in A151 (=A150) AND click Ctrl+Enter.It will fill all the blank cells with value above it
    Step4:Now paste as values ( all values in A column)
    Step5:Now you need to delete rows from column B.Select B column from 150th row onwards and Ctrl+G==>Special-->Blank-->OK-->All blank cell in B column will be selected
    Step6:Delete rows

    Hi Annd2009, welcome to the forum. Select the first empty cell in column B, (next to the first Name in column A). Right-click and select Delete.... A dialog box pops up. Select "Shift cells up", then click OK. This aligns Columns A and B. Now select your entire data area, right-click and select Sort, then Sort A to Z. Your blank/duplicate rows are now all together at the bottom. Select and delete, then fix your formats.
