Date and Time as Text but unable to convert to date and military time in separate columns

Date and Time are in text but unable to make two columns. One for date and one for military time

    In C5: =TEXT(A5,"mm/DD/YYYY")

    In D5: =TEXT(A5,"HH:MM")

Re: Date and Time as Text but unable to convert to date and military time in separate colu

I did separate them into two columns ( used the first formula), but they are still showing as text for date and time. I need them to be date and military time and not text. Does that make sense? Thanks

Perhaps they are in military time and date and I just need to center them in the column. Is that all I am missing. Thanks

Use LeoTaxi's solution, it should format it correctly.

Re: Date and Time as Text but unable to convert to date and military time in separate colu

I tried to format date to 1/1/13 instead of 1/1/2013 but it did not change. So maybe there is something more needed for date? thanks
