Automatic changes from references to values when copying to a new workbook

I've noticed on some occasions when I copy a sheet from an existing workbook into a new workbook, the cell formulas (which in my case reference another sheet on the original workbook) become hard-coded values, whereas in other cases they remain as references, modified to direct to the original workbook. It seems that the former occurs when I copy the sheet with a macro, while the later occurs when I copy manually. Can anyone explain what Excel actually does here?

By default, copying/pasting will copy/paste a formula if one exists (there may be changes to references in the formula depending on how the absolute/relative parts of the formula are written).
It seems like your macro is set up to paste values instead - if you post (the relevant part of) your macro code here, we can take a look at it.

I recently started a new job so am a bit busy and may not reply quickly. Sorry - it's not personal - I will reply eventually.
If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
