This workbook contains content that isn't supported on this version of excel

    Hi everyone,

I have a workbook that was created in excel for PC that I can only open "read-only" on mac. It originally contained active-x controls which I then deleted and changed to form control. No luck. I have since deleted all macros from the workbook.

When attempting to open on a mac I get the error "this workbook contains content that isn't supported on this version of excel." It then gives me the option to cancel opening the workbook or open read-only. After deleting all the macros I have run out of ideas on what the unsupported content could be.

    Excel for PC 2010
    Excel for Mac 2016.

    Thanks

Excel for mac will have all sorts of differences from excel for PC so it could be all sorts of things.
You could try just saving the PC file as a old or more simple version of excel and see if that makes a difference. And try removing any forms or buttons etc from it.
If you want something done right... find a forum and ask an online expert.

    Thanks for the response.
I've removed all buttons and VBA modules and tried saving as an Excel 97-03. Unfortunately I may just need to have two separate versions of the workbook.
