Re: V-look up

What kind of problem are you experiencing? Can you tell us a little more about how your data is layed out, or better yet, upload a small example of a sanitized spreadsheet with the desired results?

Re: V-look up

this is file 1:
Untitled.png

i want it to look like file 2:
1.png

basically a lot of the names listed in file 1 are repetitive in file 2, and the ID number is also repetitive. so i need to use vlook up to get the results

What column are you looking up from, and which column do you want returned? what are the headings in file 1?

Can't do email. Can you upload a version of your spreadsheet? Click go advanced, manage attachments, and follow the prompts.

1. Post the formula here in the thread; indicate the cell it's in and what it should be returning.
2.(How to) Upload a Workbook directly to the Forum
(please do not post pictures or links to worksheets)
• Click Advanced next to Quick Post button at the bottom right of the editor box.
• Scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments",
• Click the "Choose" button at the upper left (upload from your computer).
• Select your file, click "open", click "upload"
• Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
• Close the Attachment Manager window.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook. The workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
