Keep a Default Value in a Cell without assigning.

On opening a Workbook I want to keep a default value such as the 'Last Name Used' in the cell in focus without actually assigning that value to it.

If I just press 'Enter' that value is to be assigned Else I should be able to assign a new value by starting to type on the Keyboard (and by pressing Enter when completed).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks...

I do not understand what you are trying to achieve. And even if I did, I doubt you could use the {ENTER] key to achieve what you want.
Whatever it is that you are wanting, it is likely to involve some VBA.

Please explain a little bit more by telling us what you plan to do afterwards, something like this...

    1. I open a workbook
    2. I go to a cell (Cell A) and enter some text
    3. I want to retain that value
    4. I go to a different cell (Cell B) and I want to either enter some free text or I want cell B to contain same text as Cell A

    What happens with formula?

    Try this:

    - open attached workbook
    - put any value in any cell
    - move to another cell and double-click

    In sheet module
