I would like to know if it is possible for Excel to automatically generate a new worksheet depending on a value selected in a given cell (from a drop-down list) in a previous worksheet?
I am happy to provide more context and can supply an example sheet of what I am looking to do, but just wanted to see if this is possible first?

Yes it's possible
see attached workbook
Change value in cell A1
As an example, in the code, the word "sales" is added after the value from cell A1
To prevent the code stopping if the name already exists, error handling is added
This is a change event macro, that is triggered when value in cell A1 is changed
It is located in the SHEET module of sheet1

although this solution looks very useful, it is way beyond my current excel capability (just simple formulas) to build this into something much larger and fully understand it in order to support fellow users. the workbook that I am referring to will probably have circa 30 worksheets.
A formula cannot create a new worksheet
How about putting it behind a button - so they click on button and new sheet is created based on value in a cell
Must be done via VBA, one way or another
