Help with adding students name

Greetings:

I have a list of students. This list passes the names of the students to another workbook which calculates average within the same file. However if I add a new name by using Sort a to z, the workbook that calculates average is affected by displacing (changing) the data. Is there a way to avoid this?

Hi @jcommander, welcome to Excel Forum! A small sample workbook (NOT a picture) would really help us to solve your problem quickly and accurately.
We need some “realistic” data to test. Remove any sensitive or extraneous info.
Please include examples of any variations the code or formula must address.
Also, PLEASE simulate some results to demonstrate what you want.

To attach a workbook:
Click Edit Post (or just start a new reply.)
Click Go Advanced
Scroll down to Manage Attachments and click.
Now just Browse for your file, then click Upload. Simple!

if you insert rows between already existing rows in a table then any averages etc that span that space should extend
