2 Filters at different Rows in one table

    Dear All

In the attached file is a table having multiple versions of Headers. The data set by nature have varying types (A, B, C) so that each type has different kind of parameters that are observed, hence each type has its own version of header (Type A --> Header A, Type B --> Header B, etc). If for example, I want to observed the data type B, I could put a filter in the main header, and select type B only in the dropdown arrow, resulting in the appearance of Header B and data type B only. Suppose I then want to have another filter in Header B, to filter data type B that has a height of more than 5 mm. How would I do that without releasing the first filter?

merged cells are evil, especially in autofilter
    data layout is unclear, sorry

Which part? what part is unclear?

Yes, I purposely merged them so insert table cannot be use as it will unmerged the cells in this case. Unless there is another way which I'm not aware of. And of course i made sure each header type doesn't have the same length, this was done on purpose. I tested this before, when the (lower) cells of the header which are directly adjacent to the data are of the same size (same size of merging cells) , filtering them won't be a problem, unless they aren't adjacent (in touch) to each other or not of the same merging size.

The way this should work is that, I have to be able to filter the type first, then i can filter the other parameter (in header A/B/C) without clearing the first filter which is supposedly to be in the main header.

    don't work with merged cells.

You have to restructure your table to get what you want.

I don't understand the related headers / cells yet.

Can you explain more (preferable also in the file).
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

Ok I revised just a little bit to show how it should look like in the file. But ideally i would not have to make a separate sheet. Just use filtering to get the same result, ideally. Instead i used hide cells in this case, but that would be inconvinient if it was working with a large group of data.

See the restructured data in sheet Oeldere.

You can filter on column E.

I removed (of course) the merged scells.

I'm sorry but what I see you only combined the parameters into 1 header, which if i'm working with very large data and very varying data (many paramaters) would make the header very-very long (Horizontally) with many empty data column in between. I'm not asking you to change the layout so it would be more apporpriate. What i'm asking is is it possible to do filter in one row then do another filter at the row below it without having to release the first filter?

To my opinion that is not possible in your situation.

Maybe it can be done by VBA. But in this case I doubt that too.

I am no expert on VBA, so can't tell you for sure.
