Need to block the search inside the unprotected open excel file.

    Hello Friends

    Excel Version : 2010

While Searching (Windows + F) I want to block to search inside the excel files. I know the `Password to Open’ will do this but I don’t want to add open password because of some reasons.

I am not sure whether `Protect Sheet’ password will serve this function or not. So need to block the excel file(s) to stop search (or find) texts inside the files. This needs to be set in the Excel file not in excel software or other software’s like windows.

    Any suggestions invited.

    Thanks in advance.
    Sekar

Simple. Go to Review->Protect Worksheet (don't remember the Group name). Then enter your password and uncheck every option. Once you activate the protection you will be able to bring up search but it won't work.

    Hello nick93

    thanks for your reply.

    " . . . don't remember the Group name . . . " What is group name, please elaborate.
" . . . enter your password and uncheck every option . . . " For Excel 2010 in Windows OS it shows `Structure' and `Windows' - 2 checkboxes. If i uncheck both the check boxes then even after enter the password `Ok' option will be dimlighted i.e., will not be there.

    Thanks again for your reply.

It's the label below each part of the tab of the Ribbon.
You need to press Protect Sheet (not worksheet as I said earlier). This is the button.
