Capturing 3 inputs for a glide path, graph.

    Hi folks,

So apologies, clicking the attachment button isn't giving me anything besides a blank box! So had to make do with screenshots i'm afraid!

Basically, my graph is 2/3rd of the way there, I just cannot get it to display a more sensible axis and I cannot find a way to attach the name of each deliverable, to each plotted point. (The deliverable names are not currently graphed, because whenever I do, the line goes flat with a straight count from 21 to 0. Ignoring the date element) What I would really like, is similar to what I have, with the deliverables listed against the plotted points and the axis to ideally stack the duplicate dates or at least be a little more customizable. I wish I could send the actual native file so you can see what i'm doing. I hope the ss's are enough!

I am not sure where all of the commands are in 2013. Your pictures do not show any horizontal axis, so I would expect to go into the appropriate menu/task pane and make sure the "show primary horizontal axis" is checked: http://www.dummies.com/software/micr...in-excel-2013/

You don't indicate what you have tried to use to add the product name to the data points. I would have expected to either:
    1) Use data labels where the value for the data label is from column A (link above includes some about adding data labels.
    2) Separate product name into separate data series so that each product is its own data series.
It depends entirely on what you are intended to show with this.

The paperclip icon has never worked for attaching files. To attach a file, click on Go advanced to bring up the full post editor, then click on "manage attachment" beneath the post editor to bring up the file uploader.

Your chart does not show a horizontal axis. I went to (2007 ribbon) Chart tools -> Layout -> Axes -> Primary horizontal axis -> show left to right axis and the horizontal axis was displayed. I don't know where the equivalent command is in 2013, but it seems like it should be as easy as finding and executing the equivalent command to get the horizontal axis to display. Have you had any luck finding this command in 2013?

Did you decide if you wanted to use Data labels or separate legend entries to label the different deliverables? I added data labels (I use a 3rd party add-in since this is not available to 2007) using something similar to the built in options you have: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...2-f467c9f4eb2d Are you able to add the data labels to the chart?

Well I turned on the axis, but of course since i am not charting from the "deliverable name" it just returns a load of numbers. Like I said, if I try to chart on column A, the line goes flat, because it no longer recognises it as a date. It's like i can chart the date and the decrease in the path, but not the deliverable name, the date and the decrease?

Those numbers are the serial numbers for the dates on the date axis. You should just need to format the axis to have a suitable date format (number formatting appears to be just outside of the picture the format axis dialog on the right).

I'm still not clear on what difficulty you are having adding the deliverable name to the chart. Have you tried using data labels?
