    Automated dashboard

    Hello guys!

I am new to the forum and have a - at least to me - complicated task.

I need to create a 'Master spreadsheet'. The first tab will have a list of indicators. For each indicator I need to provide a mean value, taken from multiple data sources in other files. I need this to be automated and update when the information is updated.

I then need to create a second tab, which will contain graphs of the original data - also automated. I need to be able to access this second tab, by 'clicking' on the cell containing the original value in the first tab.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank-you.

    Re: Automated dashboard

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? Nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Automated dashboard

    Hello,

I have attached an example of my dashboard. I cannot provide any data, as the source of the data will be multiple external files per each indicator. So I need to 'SUM' specific values in each file(s), for each indicator. For some of the indicators there are 10 files.

The file shows the first tab, which will hopefully contain the mean amount for each indicator taken from the values in the files where the raw data is. The second tab will hopefully display output for each indicator.

    Thank-you.

    unable to open your document.
You will be better to upload an excel document.
Then have some sample data plus some of the outputs you want to use.

You tend to get much more advice from the site users if you have shown that you have completed some work yourself.
There is plenty of information about building dashboards on the internet. Try searching for Chandoo & Excel

    Hello Sean,

I did attempt to upload an Excel document earlier, but the upload continues to fail.

I have looked at other dashboards, Youtube, excel guide, etc. I certainly don't want the work done for me. Just some guidance on the process.

    Thank-you.

    Re: Automated dashboard

I don't think you will get any help with that.

You will need to upload an excel workbook with what you require as a result, some data to show what type of data and format it is in.
Also how the different data is laid out.

You cant expect someone to spend their time on this for free if you don't at least provide ample information for them to work with.

SP91 - pictures are of no use. Upload the Excel (.xls or .xlsx) file.

    Re: Automated dashboard

    Hey Guys,

No worries. I have 'created' my dashboard, with a few tutorials from Chandoo and this forum.

It will still be a work in progress, but thank-you.
