Match function not working

Hello All,
I have data in two different columns A & B
e.g. in A2:A5 I have:
D1004
D1005
D1006
D1007

and in B2:B5 I have:
1004
1005
1006
1007

Now in C2 I have the following formula:

you have a difference between trying to match Text and numbers

humdingaling's correction works for me, based on what you describe in your OP. I suggest that you examine your values in A2:A5 and B2:B5 more carefully. Are there any non-printing characters that you have not disclosed in the OP? Can you separate out the RIGHT() function and verify that the result of RIGHT(A2,4) is 1004 and not something else? Can you otherwise verify the accuracy of the OP, because it seems like it should work if the OP is truly accurate?
