Hello
I have a pivot table that I want to group by month. I've googled how to do so but the solution isnt working, ie right click on date and click group. I'm told "Cannot group that selection".
I'd like the pivot to group this by Nov 2017, Dec 2017 etc

When I rightclicked on the Date and clicked on Group I got the error I mentioned above. Did you do something in between?
Also, my raw data goes back a few years. So once I succeed at your step it'll just have months. But Jan will be the sum of Jan 2017 and 2016 and 2015 which will essentially be meaningless. How do I make it Jan 2017 Feb 2017 etc and Jan 2016 Feb 2016 etc?

Insted of grouping you can use Date Filters from first column dropdown menu (but Group is faster and easier)
in your example is 2017 only but if you want with your original data set more years select by Month and Year in group window
