Merging duplicate entries in an index

    Good Morning,

I'm working on a publication index, and I need to create an index for the entire year's publication out of the individual indices exist for each journal.

So far I managed to merge indices and sort them, but one issue remains:

Let's say the term "annual report" has been repeated in several different pages of the journal over the year:

    Annual Report *E161
    Annual Report *E150
    Annual Report *E243, E260, E275, E284
    Annual*Report *E243

    (E161,E150, ... are page numbers)

I need a way to detect duplicate terms in first column, and group the page numbers like this:

    Annual*Report *E161,*E150*,E243, E260, E275, E284,*E243

Thanks for your advice in advance,
    K

Hi kasray. Welcome to the forum.

Withe the understanding that Annual*Report is a "typo" and you intend consistency this array entered formula will do that.

If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.

In F1 as in the below array enter this formula and fill across until you get blanks.
    Formula: copy to clipboard
